För att förverkliga sina drömmar och hjälpa sin familj ur fattigdom tar 13-årige Tito chansen – han lämnar sitt hem i en småstad i Uruguay för att värvas av ett av de bästa ungdomsfotbollslagen. Men det nya livet blir inte så enkelt som Tito har tänkt sig – pressen är enorm och relationen med hans hårt arbetande pappa blir infekterad.
 
Filmen är baserad på före detta proffsspelaren Daniel Baldis roman med samma namn.
